The Big Day

From the minute we started planning for this summer, Tian and I have viewed the entire 8-day experience with family in Beijing this August as our formal wedding.  Weddings are all about celebrating the uniting of two people and two families into one, and whether on the Great Wall or over hot pot, this is exactly what we did all week long.

The date of our ceremony was August 5, 2010...a Thursday.

Nonetheless, we did also see the formal ceremony as the climactic event of the wedding and the week.  It turned out to be all that we hoped for and more.  Before we share the amazing and memorable moments of the day, I wanted to give you an overview of the schedule:

  • Before 10:00       Breakfast
  • 10:00 – 11:30     Flowers
  • 11:30 – 12:00     Lunch
  • 12:00 – 2:00       Makeup & Hair
  • 3:00 – 4:00         Ceremony Set-up
  • 4:00 – 5:00         Formal Pictures
  • 5:00 – 5:30         Guests Arrive
  • 5:30 – 6:15         Ceremony
  • 6:15 – 6:30         Reception Line & Champagne
  • 6:30 – 7:30         Dinner
  • 7:30 – 8:30         Cultural Performances
  • 9:00 – 12:00       Dance!

As you can imagine, the day was packed and quite crazy.  But as most brides and grooms will tell you, it happened all too quickly and was over in the blink of an eye.  It’s a good thing we have such great pictures from Jenny to relive the moments again and again.

Without further ado, here it is…the story of our wedding day!
